متن کاملTherapeutic and analytical applications of arsenic binding to proteins.
Arsenic binding to proteins plays a pivotal role in the health effects of arsenic. Further knowledge of arsenic binding to proteins will advance the development of bioanalytical techniques and therapeutic drugs. This review summarizes recent work on arsenic-based drugs, imaging of cellular events, capture and purification of arsenic-binding proteins, and biosensing of arsenic. Binding of arseni...
متن کاملSystematic identification of arsenic-binding proteins reveals that hexokinase-2 is inhibited by arsenic.
Arsenic is highly effective for treating acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) and has shown significant promise against many other tumors. However, although its mechanistic effects in APL are established, its broader anticancer mode of action is not understood. In this study, using a human proteome microarray, we identified 360 proteins that specifically bind arsenic. Among the most highly enrich...
متن کاملBINDING OF NAPROXEN TO SERUM PROTEINS IN PATIENTS WITH LIVER CIRRHOSIS AND HEALTHY INDIVIDUALS
A three-fold decrease of the in vitro ability of serum proteins to bind naproxen was shown in patients with cirrhosis of the liver compared to healthy individuals. This decrease was caused by quantitative changes in serum proteins in the sera of patients with liver damage. Lower doses of naproxen are therefore suggested in the treatment of patients with liver dysfunction.
متن کاملLigand Binding to Heme Proteins
The 02, CO, and alkyl isocyanide-binding properties of a variety of vertebrate and invertebrate heme proteins have been compared in detail to those of protoheme mOn0-3-( 1-imidazoy1)-propylamide monomethyl ester in aqueous suspensions of soap micelles. The proteins examined include: cytochrome P-450,,, from Pseudomonasputida, beef heart cytochrome c oxidase, yeast cytochrome c peroxidase, a and...
